The Nelson Tasman Pasifika Community Trust (NTPCT) is dedicated to supporting Pasifika families and communities to thrive across health, education, and wellbeing.

We are seeking a passionate and committed Pasifika Check & Connect Mentor to support our Pasifika young people from Year 8 through to Year 13.
This role focuses on building strong relationships, supporting student engagement, and walking alongside young people and their families to achieve positive education and life outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Pasifika students to improve attendance, engagement, and achievement.
Build strong relationships with students, whānau, schools, and community partners.
Identify and help remove barriers to learning.
Provide mentoring, advocacy, and navigation support.
Support transitions into tertiary education, training, or employment.
Deliver and support afterschool programmes, mentoring initiatives, and youth development activities.
Connect families to health, education, and social services.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting requirements.

You are someone who:
Has a strong heart for Pasifika communities and young people.
Demonstrates understanding of Pasifika cultures, values, and identity.
Is confident working with young people and their families.
Has experience in education, youth work, or community services.
Speaks one or more Pasifika languages (highly desirable).
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Is organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and in a team.
Holds a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
